GDC Awaits, San Francisco Has No Idea What It's In For

Hey there, everyone out in the land of interwebs! I'm off to GDC (Game Developers Conference) March 2nd and I'm really excited. I've gotten to know so many great gaming artists over the years and I finally get to meet some of them in person. Yay! Also, I'm sprucing up my portfolio so I can get closer to working in the industry I love so much.

Here's a sketch I'm going to color, a character & costume design:

She's an old character from my very first screenplay, believe it or not, and I thought she would make a great character in any medium so here she is. I'll post the finished version when it's done.

In other news, my web comic, Just Playin' is getting a reboot after GDC, so expect to see more hilarity from the land of video games in the very near future. Toodles!

Happy Birthday, Silent Hill!

Back in 2000, Silent Hill had been released for a year and I was madly in love. To celebrate, I created my very first website - a fan page called Silent Hill - The Alluring Nightmare. (Tripod since crashed and locked me out of the page forever, but you can still see it here.)

You can't keep an inspired artist away from her sketch pad, so the Silent Hill pics began to flow like fog through the sleepy town. In celebration of Silent Hill's 12th birthday (on January 31st), I'm posting some fan art pics from back in the day - enjoy!

I'm happy to say that my skills have improved significantly since then, ha ha! Ah, good memories, though. If you have Silent Hill fan art, please feel free to post!

"Be Buried in Silent Hill" Competition Entry

So, Konami decided that since we fans are incredibly talented and fucked in the head, they came up with a contest. They challenged us to design the most grotesque and frightening burial statue we could think of and the top 3 get featured in Silent Hill: Downpour.

After many sketches and deliberation, here's what I came up with:

The idea was that you're wandering after seven Silent Hill titles through the fog with a flashlight, thinking is this game gonna suck? I dunno, after 4 it just sorta went to he--HOLY MOTHER OF SAMAEL WHAT THE EFF IS THAT??!! Aaaaaand after wasting a bunch of ammo on it, you'll realize it's made of stone. Or is it? Will it come alive and nom nom down on your face when the town switches into the Otherworld? You, my friend, will just have to find out.

Konami picks their favorite 6 entries this Thursday, Feb 10th, then fans will be able to vote for the top 3 that get rendered into the game, itself. (You can spy on my competition as they're featured on the Facebook page.) Wish me luck!

P.S. - O Happy Day! The original Silent Hill is available for just $6 on PSN! Fog and air raid sirens for my PSP? Happy Hill Head is Happy.
